Conclusion

Overall I found that finding my citations was fairly easy. I did have trouble finding the blog and the RSS feed like I mentioned in my other posts but with a bit of patience I did eventually find them. A lot of the information that I found though were things repeated but on a different website such as Nicholas biography, book reviews and brief description on his books. I used non print materials for my research as most things about Nicholas Sparks are published on the web and it is easier to access. I decided to use my blog to present my report because I wanted to challenge myself as I have never used a blog before this course. I found that with using the blog it was a more fun way to present my citations.

I am however still unsure if i got my citations right but Leonie said we will go through citations on Thursday's class so that will be good.

Fifth Citation

My last citation is the RSS feed. I had a lot of difficulties finding the RSS feed. I first looked through google reader but i couldn't find anything that was to do with my topic. So i then decided to search through google to see if i could find sites that are about Nicholas Spark's and also have a RSS feed but to my luck i found nothing. I then made my search more specific and i googled 'Nicholas Sparks rss feed'. After my second click i found this website which has an RSS feed. I subscribe to the website with my google reader. This took me about 2 hours to find but over the course of three days.

Third and Fourth Citation

So my third citation is a video. I found this video by searching through youtube. I searched through youtube because I am more familiar with this site then any other video sites. I made my search broad so I just typed in Nicholas Sparks in the search bar and I found this video of Nicholas Sparks being interviewed. It only took me about a minute to find this video.


My fourth Citation is a blog. I had a lot of difficulties finding a blog especially one with a RSS feed. Most of the blogs that I found was only about the new movie that is being made from one of his books. The blogs only had one post about it and it was mainly about the actors who were going to be in the movie. So after hours of searching (it actually did take me a few hours to find the blog) through Google blogs i finally found this blog which has a brief description on six of Nicholas' books plus each one has a link to download the book onto your computer (I can't find whether the blogger has done this legally or illegally but i assume it has been done illegally)

First and Second Citation

My first citation that I found was a wiki. I didn't know all that much about wikis and the only wiki site that i knew of was wikipedia so i decided to search that website to see if they had anything on Nicholas Sparks. To my luck i found this wiki which has his biography, information about his writing career and all of his books that he has written. There were also links attached to some of his books which gave an in depth description on that book. Finding the wiki page only took me around a minute as all i had to do was get Wikipedia's home page up and then search Nicholas Spark's name in the search box.

My second citation was an image. I found this image by searching through google images. I clicked on one of the images to see the original source of the image and the website it came from was from Nicholas Spark's official website. Being from his official website i thought it must be a reliable image of Nicholas Sparks. It only took me a minute to find an image of Nicholas.

About My Topic

Sorry i haven't written a post in a while. I have been very busy with all the homework that i have and it is all starting to build up. Anyway i thought i will let you know a bit about my topic. As you all probably already know i am doing an author called Nicholas Sparks. Nicholas is an American author and his main genre that he writes is romance. The very first book he wrote was The Notebook back in 1994 however it didn't get published until 1996. He has written in total 14 books and four of them (A Walk to Remember, Message in a Bottle, The Notebook and Night in Rodanthe) have been made into a film. He also has two more books being made into a film (Dear John and The Last Song) which are both due for release in 2010. He has an official website which has more about him and a description on all of his books.

The reason why I choose Nicholas Sparks as my topic is because I have only read one of his books and I have watched two of the movies but I didn't know much about him or about any of the other books he wrote. So I thought by doing him as my topic I get to find out more information about him while I search for my citations.

I finally added a display picture. It took me about ten goes to get it up (the internet can get really annoying plus the yellings of my brother for lagging the internet) but hey i got there. My Picture if you noticed is a bird. He is my pet budgie named Bob. We found him a few years ago and he has been with us since.
